Dragons welcomed DDC Colts to their home ground needing to win the game to keep their 100% record in the final game of the round robins.

As the game kicked off both teams kept it tight in midfield and it looked like the game would turn out to be a scrappy affair, but with two minutes on the clock Ryan released Liam R down the left hand side who calmly slide the ball past the keeper to score. DDC tried to tighten up at the back and caught Dragons in the offside trap on quite a few occasions whilst at the other end Dom, Liam H, Brandon and Moggy worked hard to stop DDC from creating any real opportunityto score. It took something a little special to get Dragons next goal with Keiran S reacting quickly to hit the ball on the half volley from 20 yards out sending the ball flying into the back of the net.

That was the signal for Dragons to take a grip of the game and the minutes later they forced DDC to put the ball out for a throw in roughly in line with the 6 yard box. As the ball came in, Ewan flicked it on brilliantly leaving Ryan to guide the ball into the back of the net. The midfield started to press DDC now and Tom H set up Keiran S for his second goal with a brilliant reverse pass allowing him time and space to pick his spot and score. Finishing the half strong Dragons scored again through Liam R battling to win the ball from the defender to fire it past the keeper.

Half Time 5 – 0

Dragons came back out in the second half determined not to ease up and let DDC have an easy second half and with less than a minute gone Kieran S latched onto a clearance from DDCs defence and smashed a volley from 25 yards out straight into the roof of the net giving the keeper no chance. In DDCs best chance of the game they pulled one back 2 minutes later scoring a good goal from just inside the box but that only seemed to fire Dragons up and Cieran W popped up on 38 minutes to score his first of the day having come on as a substitute at half time. Dragons kept on pressing for another goal and after some good play force a corner and it was Cieran W who was quickest to react and score once again. Although Dragons were now easily on top and in control of the game DDC did keep trying to break through and managed to get a run on goal only for Tom F to make a well timed sliding tackle taking the ball away from the strikers foot and allowing Liam H to clear the danger. Dragons pushed on and Carl broke strongly from midfield with the ball to go one on one with DDCs keeper who made a brilliant save only for Liam R to be following up to tap in the rebound.

DDC tried to hit back from a well taken free kick only for Nathan to make an excellent save to deny them a second goal. That was DDCs last real effort on target and Dragons gave very little else away. Carl was next to score with a brilliant header from Kieran S’s cross to make it 10 – 1. Cieran W scored the final 2 goals to wrap up a lively display by Dragons. Well done boys, Colin, Warren and all the parents are proud of you.

Full Time 12 – 1.
