Wyrley Juniors Panthers U8′s Match Report 7.4.13

Wyrley Panthers v Shire Oak Acorns Friendly Match

The Panthers fixtures were a replica of those the last time the weather did not ruin their fixtures. A disappointing week for the Panthers ended with a draw and only a third loss of the season.

The first game was a difficult and cagey affair between the two teams, with limited clear chances in the whole game. The one chance of note fell to the Acorns and was brilliantly saved by Lewis ‘the Cat’ Rochelle.

The one positive from the game was the performance of Josh Reynolds in midfield. Josh was a colossus, winning the ball and playing it neatly whilst keeping possession.

Man of the match in this game was obviously Josh Reynolds.

Wyrley Panthers v Brewood Friendly Match

Brewood started the match with only 6 players. However, the Panthers could not capitalise on the extra man and within a couple of minutes Brewood were back up to full strength.

Like the first game, there were no real chances of note throughout the whole game. Panthers looked quite comfortable at the back and were a constant threat on the break through the pace of Ben ‘Tank’ Maginness.

Unfortunately, Brewood scored a late winner in controversial circumstances when the ball had looked from all angles to have gone over the by-line for a goal kick. George Whitehouse put the ball back in to play and a Brewood player put it into the net and the goal was given.

Brewood, over the course of the game probably edged the possession stats and probably deserved to win.

Man of the match in this game was Lewis ‘the Cat’ Rochelle.

Another couple of tough games for the Panthers, who are learning that football matches are won and lost by the smallest of margins.

Well Played boys!
