The Lions started this game with only 7 players and no regular goalkeeper. However you wouldnt have guessed which team were under strength as the Lions set off at a tremendous pace and took the game to Portabello. The Lions had a number of good opportunities with Ella Spears and Richard Sutton going close. The forwards were supported well by Ryan Wood and George Bicknell. With Charlie Smith making rampaging runs from the centre of defence. He was covered brilliantly by Owen Lloyd. The Lions were retaining pocession and passing like they had been playing for a full season.
Against the run of play Portabello scored on one of their few break aways. The Lions did not let their heads drop and stormed back with a goal from Charlie Smith from a corner. Portabello staged another attack and at a vital moment the Lions lost their central defender Owen Lloyd off the pitch. The referee failled to suspend play whilst Owen was off and Portabello took full advantage to score their second goal.
The second half followed the first with the Lions at one point having 6 corners one after the other. Josh Guest who was the stand in keeper was getting bored in the Lions goal. He delt with the few of Portabella chances with ease. The Lions continued to pass the ball and pressurise Portabello for the remaining time in the game. The score was irrelevant the performance was everything the Lions continue to make fantastic improvement in terms of their passing, movement and positioning. Well done lads and Ella fantastic performance.
