LICHFIELD JUNIOR YOUTH LEAGUE  DIVISION 2  MATCH REPORT 1/05/13

 WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED 2 v 0 SHELFIELD

United took the points in this evenings league encounter, the game wasn’t blessed with many chances on goal, particularly in the first half and credit must be given to the excellent spirit and endeavour given by Shelfield during this game. There were several midfield battles to be won and that’s where the majority of play was contained in the first half. Only a couple of chances of note fell to United, Tom Peacock was a little unlucky to header just wide from a corner and Tom Wheeldon ran clear but didn’t test the keeper sufficiently. United however took the lead perhaps with more than a bit of good fortune when man of the match Liam Morley’s corner struck a defender in the six yard box, who deflected the ball into his own net. United did pick up their game in the second half, Lewis Hill made a couple of strong runs, the keeper making a good block off, coming off his line on one occasion. Elliot Crook was getting more into the game too, he hit one shot goal bound but saw his effort just clear the crossbar, Crook then turned provider has he found Louie Parish in space, who took the ball beyond the hardworking Shelfield left back to hit a shot high into the corner of the net. United defended well too in the second half to finish the game 2 – 0 winners.
