LICHFIELDJUNIOR YOUTH LEAGUE DIVISION 2 MATCH REPORT 30/09/2012
CANNOCK TOWN 1 v 5 WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED
United started the game brightly and showed great competitive spirit in the opening exchanges, Wyrley were a little fortunate to take the lead however, a handball by a Cannock defender was adjudged to be just inside the penalty area and up stepped Elliot Crook to find the corner of the net. With the wind at their backs United put the home team under pressure, there was some great passing and movement from the Wyrley midfield of Tom Peacock, Liam Morley, Sam Foreman and Alex Price. Elliot Crook made a good run down the right, his cross found Louie Parish who coolly hit his first of the match from six yards out. A few minutes later man of the match Parish hit his second, a strong run beyond the Cannock defence, was finished off superbly with a shot into the roof of the net. Cannock came out determined at the start of the second half but credit to the United defence who soaked up the early pressure, Cannock did breach the United defence eventually and finished neatly at the far post to claw a goal back. Parish then hit the best goal of the game, he cut in from the left and struck a great shot over the stranded Cannock keeper for his third, Liam Morley scored his first goal for United a few minutes later, a speculative punt forward was misjudged by the unlucky Cannock keeper, the ball bouncing beneath him and into the empty net.
Well Done boys, you all showed great commitment but also played some neat football!
