A rainy and cold morning at Cheslyn Hay did not dampen the spirit of the Warriors today. The team played two games and were on top form.
Against Wednesfield FC , Warriors made a lightening start. lsaac struck goal with the first kick of the match and seconds later Hayden was only stopped by the goalkeeper. Wednesfield’s first reply was way off target but this was the sign that they had woken up. Our defence of Carter and Hayden had to tackle hard to prevent Wednesfield making progress. Carter is now quicker to react and move around to stop the opposition. However, despite our best efforts, Wednesfield eventually scored.
The second half was tough with Hayden having to make some hard tackles but this did lead to Wednesfield’s strikers losing their cool and shooting well off target. In reply, Jack on the other hand, simply powered the ball into the back of the net.
Warriors probably thought it was all over when Jack scored a second from an excellent long ball. However, Wednesfield were not finished yet and scored a great goal from a free kick which Lewis had no chance to save. Isaac, with great skill evaded all their defenders with another goal.
Our second match was against old rivals Wyrley Tigers. Warriors made another good start when Carter nearly scored and then Jack drummed the ball into the back of the net. Isaac’s pass to Harry came close to a second but it was not to be this week. Tigers then conceded a corner from which Isaac passed to Jack who scored his second in this match.
In the second half , Lewis, Hayden and Isaac piled on the pressure on Tigers with Isaac in particular being very quick. The Tigers best effort came from a free kick from which they scored at long range. .
Lee commented on today being ‘great football ‘ and the quality of passing the ball. Three man of the match awards were made: to Carter for an outstanding performance , Isaac for his display of skills, and Jack for scoring with his left foot.
