At Walsall today the Warriors fielded a full team and played two superb matches. Both games revealed how much progress the Warriors are making . They showed great teamwork ,impressive passing and defending .
Against Old Wulfrunians South, Wyrley dominated the play. Harry took a corner, passing the ball to Jack who crossed to Lewis enabling him to score his first goal. Wulfrunians were unable to reply thanks to Carter’s defensive tackles . Harry was very effective in this half showing some good footwork including a great pass to Lewis enabling him to score again.
Cole made a number of good saves but got caught out when he passed a ball to the opposition who then scored. However , Harry who had already had a couple of shots on goal, drifted the ball into the back of the net. Jack was able to weave his way around several Wulfrunians and added another. At this point Wulfrunians began to wake up and Carter had singlehandedly to stop break aways several times before Wulfrunians scored.
In the second half Wulfrunians put up more of a fight but Wyrley showed great teamwork. Isaac passed to Cole who nearly scored. Jack made a great save and then Hayden passed to Cole who nearly scored again. Alfie stopped Wulfrunians in their tracks and his throw in to Isaac nearly led to a goal. Finally, Isaac made a number of good turns, passed to Hayden who passed to Cole who scored. Immediately after, Isaac ran rings around the opposition and scored the final goal .
Our second match was against Walsall Wood All Stars. Hayden began by making some great saves and ball clearances after All Stars had gone clear of the Wyrley defence. However , after a goal mouth scramble, Jack put Warriors ahead . Harry and Jack then had some good attempts on goal but missed the target . Again All Stars broke through and Hayden had to tackle their striker to keep the Warriors’ sheet clean.
The second half began well with Cole rolling the ball into the net but All Stars soon replied. However, Isaac was in action again as his ball bounced in front of the net and just made it across the line. Hayden helped Cole to another goal before himself firing a long ball into the back of the net.
Two great performances by Warriors. Isaac and Lewis were chosen for man of the match awards.
