The Lions carried on where they left off, missing out last week due to the weather. Both teams looked even in the early exchanges, but some good passing and ball skills saw the Lions start to impose themselves. Ritchie Sutton the first to have a chance with a one-on-one with the ‘keeper only to miss-hit his shot at the last minute. Owen Lloyd made some good tackles and looks to be settling in well as defensive king pin. Ella Spears continued to run the defence ragged and got her reward after a fine through ball by Ryan Wood. The Lions continued to push and pre-kick off leading scorer Ryan Wood flashed a shot just wide while Connor Byrne nearly capped a good move with a shot just over the cross bar. Always encouraged to remember the training ground principals by the management team of Stewart and Geoff, the Lions started to look more confident and Ella Spears almost scored again had it not been for a last gap challenge from a defender. Then another attack probably bought the goal of the day. A move just inside the opposition half opened up a shooting chance on the edge of the penalty area which Ryan Wood duly obliged. Joshua Guest battled well and had a couple of long range shots rebound out. Then the game seemed to dwindling out before a good move saw George Bicknell score a well deserved goal. Owen Lloyd made another sterling tackle before the end, showing some good awareness in his defensive role. Ryan and Ella combined right at the death making ‘keeper pull of a fine save to deny the Lions another goal. A great performance. Well done Lions!!
