Panthers put in strong performance too shoot down Spitfires.

On another sunny day at Long Lane the Panthers took on the unbeaten Lichfield City Spitfires. From the outset it was clear that the boys were up to the challenge and they certainly raised their game. The first half was the most complete performance of the season so far. George and Whizza were a constant threat up front making excellent runs and showing skill and determination. The new central midfield two of Scotty and Tommy worked well together with Tommy using his athleticism to cover the whole pitch, which allowed Scotty to control the tempo of the game with some great passing from this central role. Harvey and Smash were played wide and they gave the boys balance in both attack and defence. Rio and Lewis were great at the back covering for each other and snuffing out any Spitfire attacks.

The boys excellent team play saw them race into an early 4-0 lead. This score line was pecked back by the Spitfires as they converted a penalty following a challenge on the centre forward in the box. The Panthers reply was quick with another goal with the score at half time being 5-1.

After the half time break the Panthers football was not at the level of the first half this was down to them taking their foot of the gas due to the score line and also that several players moved positions. Tank and JR came into the match and both made good contributions to the 2nd half. To the Spitfires credit they never gave up and scored to excellent second half gaols to reduce the score line. Even with the Panthers being below their best in the 2nd half they still managed at score 3 more goals resulting in an 8-3 final score. The goals came from Whizza 4 Tommy 2 George 1 and Harvey 1. Overall an excellent performance from the boys against a side who had previously not been beaten. Man and the matches were awarded to Scotty and Whizza.
