Wyrley Panthers v FC Premier Friendly Match

The boys started the game very slowly and were a goal down after only a couple of minutes. However, the response to conceding the goal was simply brilliant. The boys passed the ball around superbly and all of them were comfortable in possession. Over the course of the game the Panthers created a whole host of chances and some of these were converted with Ashton Cooper scoring one, Josh Reynolds notching two, Louis Beesley grabbing another and Ben Herrington deservedly finishing off the scoring.

Josh Reynolds played sublimely in the middle of midfield and would have had a hattrick had the post not denied him. A notable mention must also go to Ben Herrington who was exceptional on the left wing and on one occasion brought the ball down superbly with one touch following an excellent kick from keeper Lewis Rochelle. This was certainly the Panthers best performance of the season so far.

Wyrley Panthers v Brewood Friendly Match

This was a tough game between two very good footballing teams and the Panthers may feel a little disappointed that they did not get the victory they deserved. The Panthers took the lead following good wing play from George Whitehouse, who delivered a Beckham-esqe ball into the box for birthday boy Rio Parkes-Mahoney to finish coolly into the bottom corner of the net.

The Panthers held firmly onto their lead until a lapse at the back allowed a long ball to get all the way to the Brewood striker’s feet, who finished well. The Panthers continued to press looking for the victory with strong play from Rio Parkes-Mahoney in midfield. A last-minute chance fell to Josh Mason, playing in an unaccustomed position in attack, but the Brewood goalkeeper at his feet snaffled his effort at the second attempt.

The Panthers were absolutely brilliant today and huge congratulations goes out to the squad which consisted of:

Lewis Rochelle, Sam Scott, George Whitehouse, Lucas Tibbs, Josh Mason, Ben Herrington, Josh Reynolds, Ben Maginness, Rio-Parkes Mahoney, Louis Beesley, Ashton Cooper.
