Wyrley Panthers v Wyrley LK09 Lions FC Friendly Match

The two Wyrley teams put on an entertaining contest for the expectant crowd.

The Panthers took the lead early thanks to a dribble and cross from the consistent Rio-Parkes Mahoney which was bundled over the line by Louis Beasley who was lurking intently at the back post; a real poachers finish.

The Panthers next two goals came from two further long-range strikes from Ben ‘Whizza’ Herrington, one of which was close to the halfway line.

The Panthers were then awarded a penalty after a trip in the box on Louis Beasley following great work from the winger to get himself into the box. He stepped up confidently and aimed his penalty towards the right corner but he missed by inches.

The Lions then scored a good goal on the break with their right-winger, who had been their threat throughout the match, getting through the Panthers defence and finishing well.

However, the Panthers had not finished scoring and finished the job with two well-taken goals, one by Louis Beasley and the other by the industrious Josh Reynolds.

Wyrley Panthers v Cresswell Wanderers Friendly Match

The Panthers won this game at a canter against, on occasions, a robust Cresswell side. Ben ‘the Tank’ Maginness was brave to continue following a scything opening challenge on him.

However, the Panthers did what they do best and continued to play their football and following a lapse at the back took the lead following a precise finish from George Whitehouse.

Ashton ‘Goals’ Cooper then got himself on the score sheet with two calm finishes which he described as ‘toe pokes’ after the game.

Cresswell struck back late on and it looked like they may get themselves back into it.

However, two further goals from the Panthers prevented the possibility of any comeback. George Whitehouse got his second of the game from the penalty spot having himself been tripped in the area.

The final goal came from a calm finish from Ben ‘Whizza’ Herrington, following great work down the right from Ashton ‘Goals’ Cooper, who had the vision to see Whizza well placed on the edge of the box.

Ashton ‘Goals’ Cooper could have had a hattrick in the final minutes as he miskicked in the box following good footwork and cross from Josh ‘Smasher’ Mason.

Two incredible performances from the boys who scored at will and defended resolutely. With man of the match performances from Josh Reynolds and Louis Beasley.

The boys have still not been beaten this season, good work lads!!!

Squad today consisted of: Lewis Rochelle, Louis Beasley, Sam Scott, George Whitehouse, Josh Reynolds, Rio Parkes-Mahoney, Ben Herrington, Lucas Tibbs, Ben Maginness, Josh Mason and Ashton Cooper.
