Wyrley Panthers v Brewood Juniors Friendly Match

What a performance from the boys! Playing against the only team who we have yet to beat, the lads put in a real display of character.

The game was a close and nervy affair with Brewood having the better of the first half and testing goalkeeper Louis Beasley at every opportunity. If it had not been for Louis in the first half the Panthers could have gone into the half-time break two or three goals down.

Luckily, after the break the boys came out with renewed impetus and took the second-half to Brewood. The Panthers created chances and dominated possession, with Brewood struggling to get out of their own half.

With time running out a flurry of corners were awarded and quick thinking from Sam Scott resulted in the ball making its way into the net via the knee of Ben ‘Tank’ Maginness.

The boys fought courageously to earn the victory, non-more so than Sam Scott who put in a real Captain’s performance at the back.

The victory was well deserved and shows the continued improvement from the lads to beat one of, if not the best, teams in the area at this level.

Wyrley Panthers v Sporting Khalsa Friendly Match

Following on from the earlier success, the squad continued where they left off and deserved their dominant victory in this game.

The first and third goals were fortuitous own goals resulting from pressure from Panthers’ players.

The second goal was a lovely move, Josh ‘Smasher’ Mason picked up the ball from a corner on the left hand side of the box, played a slide-rule pass to Rio Parkes-Mahoney who bent the ball with his right foot into the top corner.

Josh Reynolds continued his goal-scoring form with another effort this week for the Panthers fourth.

To finish the scoring, Josh ‘Smasher’ Mason picked up his second goal in a week, finishing a great run and cross from George Whitehouse with a well-struck finish into the net.

The Panthers remain unbeaten so far this season and have really gelled as a team in every game whichever team the coaches have sent out. Let’s hope this level of performance continues and the great results continue to flow week in week out over the coming months.

Man of the matches today were the rock at the back Sam Scott and the unbeatable goalkeeper Louis Beasley. Well-done boys!

Squad today consisted of: Louis Beasley, Sam Scott, George Whitehouse, Josh Reynolds, Rio Parkes-Mahoney, Ben Maginness, Ben Herrington, Lucas Tibbs, Josh Mason and Ashton Cooper.
