Wyrley Panthers v Pelsall Villa Friendly Match
Another crushing display by the Panthers resulted in another one-sided victory.
The Panthers down to the bare bones of their squad due to holidays and injuries had no substitutes so were grateful that no injuries were suffered in these games.
The Panthers took the lead from a new kick-off routine that they had been practicing before the game, the ball was slotted home by George Whitehouse.
A further goal soon followed after great work by George Whitehouse was finished off by Lucas ‘Tibbsey’ Tibbs, who started the first game up front due to the Panthers missing their regular strikers Ashton ‘Goals’ Cooper and Josh ‘Smasher’ Mason through injury and illness.
The Panthers were creating plenty of chances and George Whitehouse and Sam ‘Scotty’ Scott looked unbeatable at the back. Suddenly, against the run of play, Scotty was harshly adjudged to have fouled the Villa striker in the box and conceded a penalty. The penalty was well struck in the bottom corner but was stopped acrobatically by Lewis ‘the Cat’ Rochelle diving to his right-hand side. One parent of a Pelsall Villa player exclaimed that it was the best save he had seen at junior level!
Following the Cat’s world class save the Panthers ran out deserved victors.
Wyrley Panthers v Shire Oak Acorns Friendly Match
Having beaten one of the best teams in the area, the Acorns, convincingly on the last occasion the Panthers went out to show it was no fluke the first time and put on a barnstorming display to win this game.
The Panthers completely outclassed and outfought their opponents all over the pitch. The midfield, especially Josh Reynolds, were tenacious in the tackle, the defence was robust and calm in possession and Ben ‘Tank’ Maginness put in another shift up front.
The first goal was an absolute screamer from Tibbsey who called for a short corner a long way out and curled the ball first time into the top corner. A quite brilliant strike!
The second goal came from Ben ‘Whizza’ Herrington, who had taken a few knocks throughout the game. Whizza slalomed his was through the defence before slotting the ball coolly past the advancing keeper.
The game got the goal it deserved late on when the Panthers sliced their way through the Acorns defence with swift one touch passing which released Tank, who coolly clipped the ball over the advancing keeper with the outside of his boot. A lovely team goal!
The Panthers now remain unbeaten in 16 matches! Well done lads!
Man of the matches today were the Cat and Tibbsey. Well done!
