by Si's Tigers on Oct.06, 2014, under Match Reports, News, Under 14s Rangers 18/19
Firstly, let me thank everyone who attended our race night. It was a fantastic night with lots of money raised for the boys and is much appreciated. I’m sure there will be plenty more to come.
Secondly we would like to welcome our new signing Kyle Turner and his family to the team. I’m sure he will be a great asset to the lads.
Wyrley Tigers vs Great Barr Harriers
I thought the lads were going to start off slow today after the late night they had at the race night but boy was I wrong. They were on fire! Tom, Rodda and Kyle were running circles around the Harriers’ defence with some of the best link up play I’ve seen in a long time. Rodda got plenty of shots off and came close on several occasions.
It wasn’t long before our new boy Kyle was in on goal; he kept his composure and buried the ball into the back of the net, bagging his first goal for the Tigers.
Jack was causing major problems in midfield with plenty of ball control and some fearless tackling. Aron was in fine form passing the ball around with ease and it wasn’t long until our second goal came: after a few brilliant passes Super Tom found the ball at his feet again and let me tell you this lad needs no invitation to shoot; he neatly slammed the ball passed the Harriers keeper.
The Harriers tried hard to get back into the game but only found the back of the net once. Iron man Will was in fine form and our world class keeper Joe T was fantastic.
The Tigers were awarded a free kick late in the second half and Jack ‘The Smasher’ Collins stepped up to take it. With a deep breath he struck the ball beautifully and it flew straight into the back of the net, bagging us a third goal that Gerrard himself would have been proud of.
Wyrley Tigers vs Lane Head Tigers
The lads went into this game on a high and it showed from the off. Lane Head scored an own goal after just a couple of minutes thanks to Rodda piling on the pressure. Kyle and Super Tom were looking sharp, passing the ball around with plenty of pace and causing problems for Lane Head’s defence.
Lane Head were also causing us some problems but thankfully Iron man Will was up for it; making lots of tackles and doing what he does best: stopping the opposition.
Our world class keeper Joe T made some super saves throughout the game and picked some lovely passes out to get the boys going again.
Scott was playing in the middle of the park and he was on excellent form, getting stuck in, passing the ball around with confidence and when he got his chance, he took it, scoring a screamer of a goal.
