Wyrley U18s Girls 25 Stratford Town Girls U18s 0

Wyrley kept their 100% and 0 goals conceded record (the only team out of 115 teams in the league with 0 goals conceded) against very plucky opponents who did not let their heads drop and were a credit to their manager.
The game was over after 10 minutes with Wyrley already 6 0 up. Goal scorers were Hayley Turner 3, Jemma Clews 3, Laura Cumberledge 2, Emily Quimby 3, Rachel Hall 6, Laura Lindsay 2, Sophie Shorrock 3 and Dominique McKee 3. Too many goals to describe in detail, but pleasing to see Rachel taking her chances; Jemma scoring another with her left foot; Laura C on the scoresheet; Laura L getting another brace; Hayley creating many chances and scoring another ‘cross’ goal; Dom again slotting in nicely and scoring her first Wyrley goals; Sophie’s quick feet for her second goal and Emily scoring one of her trademark 30 yard strikes! 6 girls scoring hat tricks!
It could have been more with Cath Davis hitting the bar 3 times and Amy Marshall and Leah Fanning having opportunites to score. Nia Jay touched the ball 3 times all game and Saff Hicken prompted Turner on numerous occasions with fine passing.

This was the team’s record score in 8 years together but the praise goes to Stratford, whose attitude was tremendous.

Well done girls!
