A valiant effort against a very good team. The Lions may be not as skilful as some of the opposing players but the Lions showed there own qualities; hard work and tenacity. Aaron Clee showed some tidy handling, Charlie Smith and George Bicknell again showed some good skills, coupled with some excellent running. Connor Byrne worked hard to tackle back and break up the attacks. Owen Lloyd added strength to the back line with his challenges. The industrious Ella Spears complimented the robust Ryan Wood in midfield as the Lions started to steady the ship. Out of the blue, the athletic, eagle-eyed referee spotted a hand ball. A penalty to the Lions. The responsibility fell to Ryan Wood, who gave the ‘keeper the “eyes” but unfortunately the ‘keeper guessed right and saved the shot. The Lions rallied again and they never faltered. A great effort and attitude shown by everyone. A number of players could have shared the Man Of The Match, but deservedly, overall, Connor Byrne took the award home. Well done Connor.
