With not much seperating the teams in the league, this looked like it could be a close game. This proved the case in the early stages of the match as Hednesford scored within the first 10 minutes.
Shortly after, Wyrley’s first chance came from a shot powerful shot from Simo from outside the area, unluckily saved by the keeper. Wyrley started to look strong going forward and played some good passing football. Their first goal came when Shamar’s throw in near the corner flag was flicked on by Kyle to Simo at the far post who headed it in to the net. 1-1 so far.
Wyrley’s second goal came from one of Nick’s runs up the wing, crossed in to the box for Kyle who very nearly missed as he slipped one on one with the keeper. 2-1 Wyrley Wolves at half time.
The second half started well dispelling any sneaking suspicions that the strong wind against us would slow us down. More good football to come as Ben won the ball in Hednesford’s half, taking on defenders and passing back to Jay who made a fantastic strike looping over the keeper and in to the top far corner of the net. Great goal! 3-1 Wyrley.
End to end stuff ensured all of the team were kept on their toes including left back Jourdan, who made some sterling challenges and clearances on numerous occasions.
Hednesford were frustrated now and desperate to get back in the game so when their number 3 made a break from midfield and scored, all hell broke loose. Keeper Aiden was tested no less than 3 times in as many minutes and made some great saves, with lightening reactions and fierce determination. Save of the season for me so far, when Aiden jumped and just got his fingers to the ball enough to tip it up and over the cross bar. With only a few minutes left Hednesford’s persistence paid off and the game ended 3-3. A fair result for an exciting, adrenalin fueled match. A great game for any neutrals.
Man of the match and well deserved: Aiden
