Mid Season Review December 2008

Another eventful start to the season!

A quick summary of achievements so far: –

36 teams all up and running!

The Club won the Regional Norwich Union ‘Join Our Team’ Vote for the West Midlands Region, receiving £13,500 towards the Long Lane Development Fund. We received much PR on the back of this including local Radio Stations and Express and Star.

We have referred 5 players to Walsall FC

We had over 40 players attend exProfessional footballer coaching at Great Wyrley High School. We are looking to repeat this at Whitsun Half term.

This website has been revamped – my personal thanks to Gareth Hardy who has spent much of his unpaid time in updating it. I think you will all agree that the quality of the site puts us ahead of our peers. The Last Sentinel divx

We have 5 teams top of their league with 7 in the top 3 – but the clear success is having 550 playing football in the black and white of Wyrley!

The Mens First Team have reached the semi Final of the Staffs Cup. The semi will be played on February 14, 2009

Future Events/Plans!

Fun Day and Sponsored Fun Run at Long Lane on February 21st 2009. We will be having the following at the event: –

RAF helicopter

Climbing Wall

Pig Roast

Penalty Shoot Out with ex professional footballer

Hot and Cold Drinks and more hot food!

Sponsored Run

Legends of the Fall film

Tombola

All teams will be involved as this will be a major fund raising event for Long Lane

The Clubs 12th Annual Tournament will take place over the weekend of June 20th and 21st. We will keep to the 3rd weekend in June as we’ve done in previous years – application forms to follow. With over 168 teams taking part, this is the largest sporting event in the Chase area and with our many years of experience we are confident that this is the best organised as well as the biggest tournament around!

If you are aware of any teams that would like to join our progressive, successful and largest club in Staffordshire – please contact me on 07836202764.
