Last game of the season, a win looking like a formality against the bottom of the league and the league title ours for the taking.
1 min and Kelly showed our intent by chesting down the cross waited for the bounce and smashed the ball home 0-1. 6 Mins great pass by Charlie to Sophie who calmly rounded the defence and sent a cracker into the top right hand corner 0-2. 11 mins, Solo run by Vicky who then sent a thunderous shot from the edge of the box, 0-3. 17 mins pinpoint cross from Sophie to Kelly for her 2nd, 0-4. The Friends of Eddie Coyle psp 32 mins Ash decided to have a crack at goal and sent a super shot passed their keeper from the edge of the penalty box 0-5. 33mins as it appeared the Wyrley defence were superfluous in their own half, a long ball sent over, a horrendous error saw Kirsty taking out Lauren instead of the ball leaving Birch Coppice to score 1-5.
43mins and Sophie calmly slotted home her 2nd 1-6.
2nd Half Jody swapped with Vicky and on 47 mins went on a wicked run and shot from an acute angle 1-7. 48 mins Charlie passed to Vicky who scored her 2nd of the game 1-8.
49mins and Wyrley not even sure who is playing where anymore, left Birch Coppice forwards to take on Lauren and claim their 2nd 2-8. Tash was not at all cantankerous with us parents when we applauded her ballerina spin, or when we only gave her 2 / 10 for her landing. 50 mins Jody’s throw found Kirsty’s head 2-9. 64 mins Sub Leanne slid the ball across the box for Kelly to grab her hat-trick 2-10. 65 mins Leanne actually beat the off-side to grab a goal 2-11. 69 mins Ash collected the ball and smashed it home from outside the box 2-12. Chelsea swapped places with Lauren so the poor girl could have a run out or should that be ‘show Tash how to land’ as she had her chance to prove herself as good out of goal as in, and promptly fell over when her chance came, 4/10 for artistic merit. 80 mins and Leanne grabbed her 2nd by coolly slotting past the keeper 2-13.
Lauren was a maelstrom from defending to attacking, running all over the pitch trying to grab a goal, unfortunately she was unlucky on this occasion. 83mins Kirsty collected on the half way line and raced for goal and belted home her 2nd of the game but her 1st with her feet 2-14. Hayley gave a solid performance in defence, midfield and attack and was unlucky not to claim a goal. Chelsea ended up making more stops with her feet than her hands and tried on 1 occasion to take out the defence with a clearance.
To credit Wyrley with an awesome performance would be malarkey, as Birch Coppice only had 8 players, but those girls were dyed-in-the-wool footballers who never once gave up or conceded defeat.
