It was with much trepidation, that the Wyrley parent’s, wondered which Wyrley team would be performing today.

The first 10 mins were totally dominated by Wyrley when against the run of play Coundon broke and hit a speculative shot which hit the bar, bounced behind Lauren and cleared off the line by Sam, or was it?  According to the linesman it crossed the line and the ref allowed it, very controversial 1-0.  12 mins an inspired run by Kelly was finished by a bullet of a shot which thudded into the roof of the net 1-1.  Coundon rallied and attempted to edge ahead again but the very makeshift defence of Jody, Sarah Ash and Sam battled well to clear their lines.  29 mins Tash hit a 40 yard free kick, which held up in the wind and dropped just under the bar 1-2.  Ash had to come off with a suspected broken toe, leaving Wyrley to battle on with 10 men.  32 mins Vikki raced down the wing and sent a slide rule pass to Leanne for a simple tap in 1-3.  37 mins Leanne broke with Kelly, who played a 1, 2 and Leanne chipped it over the keeper 1-4.

Second half continued at a harried pace with Coundon not letting Wyrley settle on any ball and trying to divide the midfield of Leanne, Chelsea, Tash and Kelly.  47 mins Sophie in front of goal deciding which foot to hit it with, choosing her right foot to drive past the keeper 1-5.  53 mins Vikki broke down the left passed to Sophie in the box for a right foot volley 1-6.  67 mins Sam was clattered in the box and hit the resulting penalty over the keeper’s head 1-7.  77 mins Sophie clear in the box lofted the ball into the top left of the net 1-8.  85 mins Leanne to Sophie for a left footed tap in 1-9.  88mins Chelsea with a cracking corner which Sophie headed home 1-10.

The score line says a comfortable game, but Coundon never once gave up and pushed Wyrley all the way.  They had several shots which were either cleared, wide or saved by Lauren.

Well done girls another well fought victory, more of the same tomorrow please.
