First match after the xmas break, would the girls play well after all that pudding? 6 min in and the answer seemed to be no as goalkeeper Lauren Cresswell spilt the ball and ferndale pounced on the ball and put it into the net.  That seemed to be the wake up call wyrley were waiting for as they dominated the play for the next 15 mins, hitting the bar, post keeper and getting 2 corners. 24 mins in Lauri Alexander picked the ball up just inside their half, ran at Ferndale took her shot which hit the keeper but she hit the rebound 1-1.  End to end stuff for the next 5 mins when Leanne Mitchell came in from the right took her shot which the keeper spilt again so Leanne buried the loose ball 1-2.   Half hour gone and Wyrley are giving everything, Lauri running at the goal rounded the keeper and slotted it into the empty net 1-3, the feeling is how many will we win by?  38 mins and Lauren is once again called into action with a fantastic save that she pushes onto the bar and is eventually cleared. Glad to see half time as Wyrley only had 11 players and quite a few of them carrying injuries.

Second half saw Ferndale start the strongest and scored their 2nd, the next 43 mins were nail biting to say the least, with Sophie Shorrock, Vicky Shaw, Kelly Highman Leanne and Lauri all coming close to scoring, with the posts, crossbar, keeper and defenders all stopping the ball from crossing the line. The defence of Jody Richards, Hayley Butler, Kirsty Watkins and Charlie Abley all playing their parts well and Chelsea Burns winning every header in midfield, a very hard fought game with a well deserved win.  Well done girls more of the same next week.
