Well a 6th game in 11 days seemed to a game to far, as a lacklustre Wyrley travelled to 2nd place Stafford.  Wyrley started off brightly enough and showed Stafford their intent when they took the lead on 25 mins 34 secs.  Jemma battled the keeper and 2 defenders to pass to Leanne, her shot hit the post but Kelly H was there to bundle it over the line 0-1.  The rest of the half was long balls over the top from Stafford and Wyrley’s defence standing firm to block the attacks.  Lauren made some tremendous saves to keep Wyrley ahead.  Sam was subjected to a high boot and had to sit out the rest of the game with Saffron replacing her.  Stafford were a strong physical team and pressurised Wyrley into submission.  Jody, Kirsty, Saff and Cath were pushed and pulled all over the park.  Chelsea, Emily, Vikki and Jemma battled to hold the midfield but most balls were going over the top.  Leanne and Kelly H kept running at the defence and were unlucky not to add to the score line.

The second half was just over a minute old (46.23) when Jemma raced down the wing, cut across and chipped the keeper 0-2.  Tired legs started to show and 50 mins the Stafford attacker got the better of the defence and the shot went in off the post 1-2.  This was the spur Stafford needed and a complete mix up gifted Stafford the equalizer 2-2.  Rachel replaced Kelly and Charlie came on for Jemma.  77 mins Stafford got through again and Lauren was unfortunate not to fetch the ball on the line 3-2.  Rachel and Leanne both went close to getting the equalizer for Wyrley but a mixture of solid goalkeeping and fatigue got the better of them.

Heads up girls not many games left.

Unlucky girls – although 6 of the girls haven’t played that many games in the last few days though.
