Wyrley Junior Girls U18's 6 – 1 Kewford Eagles

Well what a difference a few weeks make.  Last time these 2 teams met, 3 weeks ago, the game was a drab 0-0, but with this the Semi final of the league cup at least 1 goal was guaranteed.

Wyrley showed their intent from kick off and attacked with venom.  Several half shots in the the 1st 10 mins nearly to be out done by the effective Kewford counter attack.  11 mins Tash sent over a cross for Kelly who battled 2 defenders turned and shot from the corner of the box 1-0.  Wyrley then became complacent and were very lucky not to conceed an equalizer from kick off.  26 mins Kewford beat wyrleys defence to chip Lauren, who had no chance of stopping it 1-1.  Jody, Kirsty, Ash and Sarah all then put in 100% to ensure that Kewford didnt have an easy time in the wyrley 1/3.  Sam, Chelsea, Kelly and Tash were magnificent in midfield.  Sophie and Leanne made Kewford defence work hard.  34 mins a patient build up of over 20 passes Sam screwed her shot into the bottom right of goal 2-1.  37 mins Chelseas corner found Kirsty in the box, she hit it on the volley straight at the defender, which rebounded back to Kirsty for her to smash into the net 3-1.

2nd half, freezing cold, Chelsea was replaced by Vikki, who’s first touch of the ball was to smack the ball into Sophies face.  Some nice football by Wyrley this week.  Tash to Vikki who plays it across the box for Leanne to slide in and miss the ball, oh Leanne.  Kelly runs down the wing, crosses to Leanne whos shot was blocked but Sophie was there to chip the ball onto the bar, rebound fell to Sam to head from 3 foot out and hit the post, 50p head apparently.   Charlie replaced Kelly and was unlucky not to hit the target.  Kewford continued to press looking to get back into the game.  55 mins Leanne slotted home past a bemused Kewford keeper, who has kept a clean sheet in the last 5 games 4-1.  82 mins Jody takes a throw near the Kewford corner flag, finds Sam who crosses to Kelly in the box.  Kelly hit it with the outside of her boot and curled it into the bottom left 5-1.  84 mins Sams corner was headed on by Kewford and fell at Sophies feet to dink it past the keeper 6-1.

Well done girls a great game and through to the final for the 2nd year running.

Ps Thanks go to Vikki Charlie Chelsea for writing part of the above report.
