Wyrley Juniors U17s 9 – 1 Coundon Court U17s

.!.

After the girls performance’s over the last few games, 2 wins required from the last 2 games to secure the league title, another team of dyed-in-the-wool footballers approach was required.

A nice morning for football, wyrley started well and launched a nice attacking game of football.  It took 12 mins to break the deadlock, Lauren kicked a long ball from her area over the midfield where Vicky won the race for it and slotted it past their keeper 1-0.  14 mins and Sophie collected on the edge of their box, she danced round their defence, left right, left right and hit it past the keeper 2-0.  The girls seemed to be having fun, chasing down loose balls, passing well, challenging hard.  27  mins Charlie chased the ball down the wing, cut inside and hit the net from a narrow angle 3-0.  Coundon did not give up at any point and tried hard to get into the game but wyrleys defence of Jody, Hayley, Ash and Kirsty smothered all attacks.  32 mins Kelly with a trademark burst down the wing, with a pinpoint cross to Vicky who volleyed home her 2nd 4-0.  36 mins another of Kelly’s runs, the cross found Sophie who shot at goal, which a defender tried to clear of the line but was unable to stop Sophie getting her 2nd 5-0.  38 mins Kelly again making the run and shot inside the box between the keeper and defender, which Hayley made sure was buried 6-0.  43 mins Chelsea took the corner, the ball was cleared but only as far as Jody, she trapped the ball their defender kicked at it and has apparently got a hair line fracture of the right ankle, ambulance for Coundon.

Now as i was posted at the gate to wait for the ambulance for 20 mins I missed most of the game so can only relay who scored.  51 mins Sophie got her hat-trick 7-0.  61 mins Tash with a cracking free kick 8-0.  Kirsty made way for  sub Brogan, nice to see you again.  84 mins Hayley who was like a maelstrom all over the pitch, mistimed her tackle and gave Coundon a penalty which they placed nice and high over Lauren 8-1.  85 mins and Tash fired goalwards from the edge of the box making the final score 9-1.

We would like to send our best wishes to both players from Coundon who went to hospital, and wish them a speedy recovery.  The 2nd one was fluid on the knee and not a challenge from Wyrley.

Next week away to Birch Coppice and a draw would be enough to win the league on goal difference but a win would cap the season off well.Shooter full
