The last time Wyrley played Withymoor, it was a drab 1-1 draw.  This game was full of goals, excitement, end to end play, anything but drab.  It took a rejuvenated Wyrley 7 mins of passing build up play to free Sam up for a scorching shot into the bottom left 1-0.  11 mins and Sophie with a well taken drive made it 2-0.  This made the spectators nervous after watching yesterdays game, and sure enough on 13 mins Withymoor had a chance to get back into the game with a 2 on 4 ratio to Wyrley beat the defenders and crossed for a simple tap in 2-1.  Jody, Kirsty, Charlie and Cath seemed to be misreading the passes and Withymoor were unfortunate not to equalise on several occasions.  It was the heroic goalkeeping of Lauren that kept the score down.  Sam, Emily, Tash and Kelly I battled well to hold the midfield together.  Kelly H and Sophie chased down the ball and made the Withymoor defence work hard.  40 mins Kelly H with another sweet strike made it 3-1, this was answered with a counter goal by Withymoor 1 min later 3-2.  More groans from the spectators.

As the wind picked up in the second half so did Wyrley, 49 mins Kelly I from outside the box sent in a cross/shot which bounced harshly over the keeper 4-2.  51 mins once again passing to feet sent Kelly H on her way through the defenders and sent the keeper the wrong way 5-2.  Nia replaced Lauren in goal, Chelsea came on for Charlie and Tash made way for Leanne.  Wyrley’s youth started to show and they spent long periods in the Withymoor half of the field.  70 mins Kelly H, on her left foot, scooped the ball over the keeper and into the net for her hat trick 6-2.  75 mins Kelly I – Kelly H – Sophie, perfect passes left Sophie clear to bury her second 7-2.  77mins Cath with a speculative drive from 23 yds out sailed over the keeper into the top on the net 8-2.  80 mins Chelsea collected a Withymoor goal kick on the edge of the D on the halfway line and sent it back with interest 9-2, what a goal.  82 mins Emily hit the ball from outside the box, which the keeper could only watch fly past her 10-2.

This game was simply a joy to watch in the second half, the passing and movement were a pleasure to watch.  More of the same on Thursday please.
