Wyrley were ergonomically lined up for an attacking game of football and it only took 9 mins for Wyrley to open the scoring, when Rachel collected the pass and slotted the ball in the bottom left.  20 mins Tash sent over a lovely cross to Leanne for her to hit it with the outside of her boot and screw it into the bottom right 2-0.  32 mins Chelsea battled for the ball, bought it out of midfield and struck a thunderous shot which the Rugeley keeper only managed to parry to Sophie for a simple tap in 3-0.  The rest of the half was played mainly in the Rugeley half, with poor Lauren in goal only touching the ball once in the whole half.  Defenders Jody, Kelly, Cath and Kirsty were a solid force that Rugeley found difficult to penetrate.  Midfielders Chelsea, Sam, Leanne and Tash were strong and battled well for every ball.  Rachel and Sophie up front terrorised the Rugeley defence.

2nd half started with Rugeley faster out of the blocks and Lauren was put into action on more than 1 occasion. Both teams were attacking with vigour and several shots from both teams were saved, cleared, blocked or wide of the target.  65 mins Tash made a great run with the ball, passed to Sam in the box, she cut it back to Sophie outside the box, where she struck a monstrous shot which dipped under the bar giving the keeper no chance 4-0.  Wyrley introduced fresh legs with Emily, Charlie and Vikki replacing Chelsea, Rachel and Leanne.  75 mins a Rugeley forward managed to ride 3 tackles and hit a sweet shot past Lauren 4-1.  77 mins Kelly raced down the left wing sent a pass across the box to Sophie to slot home for her hat trick 5-1.  The rest of the game was nearly a washout as the rain lashed down and made the pitch difficult to control where the ball went and tackles tricky, with free kicks given away by both teams, Emily, Vikki Cath and Charlie and Sam all had decent chances to score and were unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal.  Well played ladies more of the same in the Quarter-final of the cup next week.
