Wyrley Ladies 7-0 Bridgnorth Spartans

Second semi-final in 2 days, would it be too much to expect another fantastic display by the Wyrley girls? This was emphatically answered in the 1st half display.

The 1st 10 mins saw both sides probing each other’s defence, with both sides clearing well.  10 mins Bridgnorth had a corner which Wyrley cleared, Sam collected the ball carried it through midfield passed to Sophie who laid it off for Leanne, who beat the offside and slotted past the keeper 1-0.  Bridgnorth upped their game and battled for every ball, good solid challenges going in from both sides.  Lauren had an outstanding game bossing her box and marshalling the defence of Jody, Ash, Kirsty and Cath.  20 mins Chelsea’s corner dropped for Sophie to hit home 2-0.  Bridgnorth were still looking very dangerous on the break and had several shots smothered by Lauren.  32 mins Leanne chased down a long ball beating 2 defenders and crossed to Sophie for a simple tap in 3-0.  33 mins Tash weaved her way through midfield chipped the defence for Leanne to chase and place it bottom right past the despairing keeper 4-0.  41 mins Jody battled well to take the ball off the forward slid it to Tash, who passed to Sophie to send Kelly on her way.  Kelly carved the defence apart like a Sunday roast and place it past the keeper 5-0.  The score line was no reflection on this half at all.

2nd half saw a slower tempo with Wyrley content on keeping a clean sheet.  The midfield of Sam, Chelsea, Tash and Kelly held their shape well.  Sophie and Leanne content on chasing any ball coming their way.  60 mins Vikki replaced Cath and a change of shape and positions for a few.  62 mins Leanne collected the ball and drove her shot low under the diving keeper 6-0.  70 mins 2 more subs saw Emily and Rachel come on for Chelsea and Leanne.  85 mins Sam was upended in the box and smashed the resulting penalty to the left of the keeper 7-0.  Unused subs Charlie and Kelly.

What an absolutely fantastic game of football, Martin, Martin and Andy are very proud of all of you it’s a brilliant achievement in your first year at this level.
