A good all round performance from the team gave us a deserved point, however we could have taken all 3 points against a strong Newcastle side. Ashleigh Wilcox stepped in for Jody Richards who was away with school doing D or E, and after a nervous few minutes slotted into the role and looked the part. Wyrley went 1 – 0 down after about 15 minutes after a slight mix up at the back but came storming back with 2 goals from Leanne Mitchell. Newcastle scored an opportunist goal in the second half to square the match and we almost won it in the final 30 seconds when Rachel Hall’s volley in the box had the keeper stretching only to see her tip the ball over onto the bar and out for a corner. From the ball going out the ref blew his whistle.
Well done Ladies a deserved point.
