Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15
Lichfield League Division 1.
Wyrley Juniors United 6 v Beacon Colts 2
United started the brighter of the two teams and went ahead after a fine run by Cory Crutchley was rewarded when he drove the ball across the box for an unfortunate Beacon defender to block into his own net. United knocked the ball around well, Tom Wheeldon added the second goal after cutting in from the right, then passing the ball beyond the keeper into the net. United continued to pass the ball well and good deliveries from wide areas from Sam Foreman and Sam New couldn’t find the finish they deserved inside the box. Two set pieces aided two further goals, Liam Morley’s corner was converted by Callum Ward and Foreman’s free kick was saved by the keeper but the ball was followed in well by Wheeldon who claimed his second of the match. Beacon’s heads never dropped and a good break saw United concede a penalty which was coolly taken to get Beacon off the mark. United’s reply was to score again and man of the match Wheeldon hit his third just before half time. The second half and Beacon showed good spirit and endeavour to compete well, United however continued to create chances, Foreman, New and Morley all had opportunities but couldn’t convert. New put Wheeldon through for his fourth of the evening, before Beacon pushed players forward to get their second of the match.
