Match Report:- Wyrley Juniors United U14’s Season 2014-15
Lichfield League Division 1.
Wyrley Juniors United 2 v 0 Pelsall Villa
This was a great game played by two committed and determined sides, United were desperate to perform at the top of their game and today they certainly did. The first half saw United start the better and had a couple of half chances in the opening quarter, Pelsall however picked their game up in the last quarter of the half and tested united at the back a few times, Wyrley defended well during this period. The games first half drew to a close with the teams level, neither team finding the net. The second half began once again with not much to separate the teams, both defences keeping the opposition quiet. United did find a greater threat down their right with the inclusion of Cody Stephens. With approximately quarter of the game left a lofted ball by Stephens found Tom Wheeldon’s run and he majestically and calmly lifted the ball over the keeper from the edge of the box to put United 1 up. Pelsall’s reaction was a positive one, if a little rushed, Callum Holiday came on for United to tighten things up on the right side a little. United worked hard to thwart an advancing Pelsall during the last 10 minutes, United still tested Pelsall at the back and Cory Cructhley began to see a little more of the ball, a through ball by Sam New found Crutchley and as the keeper hesitated, he pounced to hit his shot in the bottom right corner of the net. United still had work to do and can thank Tom Rowlands for a superb goal line clearance to keep United’s clean sheet. Wyrley kept Pelsall at bay, John Mcdermott was United’s man of the match. United ran out deserved 2-0 winners.
