Panthers in goalscoring mood in big Cup win!

The Panthers were up against Bloxwich Rangers in the first round of the Bilston Cup on Sunday.  Ian (the Gaffer) had explained in our pre-match hyped team talk that the Bilston Cup was the equivalent of the Champions League at our age group and this was the big stage we had to win the game.

The attendance was pretty good, even Smasher’s Mom turned up.  However, IB was away for the weekend boozing with his mates.

It was a bright sunny day and the pitch was in very good shape for our passing game.

We created many chances during the game and the following players scored in our 19-0 victory – Whizza (4), Harvey (4), George (3), JR (1), Tank (1), Rio (1), Lewis (2), Scotty (2) and Smasher (1).

The opposing goalkeeper did well to keep the score line to 19, as we pummelled him with shots from all over the place.

Ian (the Gaffer) and the other members of the team were thoughtful to allow Lewis and Smasher to play up front in the second half as they were the only players who had yet to score a goal this season.  They both duly scored and could have scored more had the goalkeeper not saved many of their attempts.

All of the outfield players scored during the game and Louis was unlucky not to score late on when he came out of goal for the last couple of minutes.

Man of the matches were awarded to JR and Smasher.

The next round of the Bilston Cup is being drawn on Thursday 8 October at 7:30pm and Ian (the Gaffer) is gutted at not being able to make it.

Our next fixture is on Sunday against Lichfield Spitfires who are also unbeaten this season.  We look forward to seeing you all there including you Smasher’s Mom.
