Charity Match update

Since releasing tickets for the Wyrley Juniors FC v Walsall FC Old Boys game last Thursday we have already sold an amazing 890 tickets!! This is a super effort so far and we are on course to get a tremendous crowd in excess of 1,000 at the game.

We have had excellent support from a number of parties: –

Colliers Arms have agreed to be main sponsors for the game.
ATG Airports Limited gave kindly offered to be matchball sponsors.
Chase Post, Cannock & Rugeley Chronicle, Wolverhampton Chronicle, Walsall Advertiser and Express & Star have all covered the game.
Staffs FA and Birmingham FA have both detailed the arrangements on their websites.
Staffs FA have donated 2 match balls and are arranging the 3 officials for us.
Great Wyrley FC have donated their facilities free of charge.
Martin Millard is kindly putting together a programme and so far we have had many businesses willing to take adverts at £100 for a full page, £50 for a half page and £25 for a quarter page. Any other businesses should either email me or go direct to Martin on martinmillard@tiscali.co.uk
Trevor Smith is looking into getting the programme printing carried out at a nominal charge and has also been instrumental in arranging the Walsall FC Old Boys through Andrew Poole, the Walsall FC website and programme editor.
Our Mens team and management have cancelled matches their players are involved in on that day and are giving great support to the ticket sales effort.
Swifty, the Walsall FC mascot will be at the game – thanks to Trevor Smith for organising.

Walsall FC Old Boys who have agreed to play so far are: –
Stewart Ryder
Paul Jones
Andy Reece
Ron Green
Dean Smith
Mark Rees
Paul Hall
Martin O’Connor
plus Peter Till ex-professional boxer and father of existing Walsall player Peter Till

We are having a raffle and auction after the game in the clubhouse – any prizes for either will be gratefully accepted. Andy Parfitt has obtained a signed St. Helens Rugby League shirt for the raffle/auction. Craig Shakespeare, Leicester City assistant manager and ex Saddler, has let us have a Leicester City shirt signed by Matty Fryatt, who used to play for Walsall FC. Walsall FC have donated a signed football and we also have a WBA signed ball obtained by Laura Millard. Wyrley Juniors FC are donating a signed Walsall FC shirt.
Shire Oak Saints FC are organising a Trophy – The Liam Keeling Memorial Charity Cup to be presented to the winning team
Liam’s team mates – Under 13s Panthers – will be ball boys.

Our thanks go to all those mentioned above and to anyone we’ve missed who’s been involved in the organisation. A truly magnificent effort!
