Wyrley Juniors FC were delighted to receive the sum of £650 from Walsall FC at the weekend.

Part of the proceeds from the annual Community Shield game between the F.A. Cup winners and the Premier League winners that takes place at Wembley, are distributed to Football League Clubs to distribute to local charities.

Wyrley Juniors were awarded the sum by Walsall FC, cementing further the feeder club status that the club enjoys. The funds will be used towards the development of Long Lane.

Pictured below is Bill Hickenbottom (left), President and Treasurer of the Club, his grand daughter Lauren accepting the cheque from Roy Whalley, Director of Walsall FC. Bill, Lauren and Bill’s wife Ann, were guests of Walsall FC at their game against Hartlepool and enjoyed a meal before the game.

Bill said ‘We were delighted to recieve the cheque from Walsall FC and we cannot thank them enough for their kind generosity and hospitality at the game.’ Bill is a life long Walsall supporter and was therefore pleased to see the Saddlers run out 3 – 1 winners.

Would have been better if it was Ann – Lauren and Roy.
