WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED – WEEKEND MATCH REPORT 30-03-2014.
LICHFIELD LEAGUE DIVISION 1.
WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED 1 v 5 PELSALL VILLA
United were unable to secure the title today but finished a creditable runners up, there was no disgrace in defeat either as United were denied this feat by Pelsall who avenged an earlier season defeat by United to claim the title. Pelsall played with great spirit and skill to claim the points however United had their chances too particularly in the first half but couldn’t quite find the killer instinct on the day. Wyrley had a sloppy start to the game and gifted Villa 2 early goals, but then United had their best spell of the match, a great header by Sam Foreman found Tom Wheeldon who reduced the deficit to one, a fine break by Wheeldon saw him pull the ball back neatly but United couldn’t convert to level the scores, Villa were more than fortunate to regain the 2 goal cushion before half time when United scored an own goal. Pelsall were the better team in the second half and restricted United to the occasional break away, they scored a further two goals to complete the win.
A great season lads culminating in our highest ever Lichfield League position, there have been many stand out moments and we are all proud of what you have achieved!
