A win for Panthers in this very tightly contested game would see them move to third spot in the league and it was Panthers who took the game to Bloxwich from the outset. A number of early corners by Panthers saw efforts by both Thomas Williamson & Kaine Garratt go close. Nevertheless, Bloxwich themselves had a number of good opportunities but were denied by some smart shot stopping by George Bailey.
It was however Panthers who broke the deadlock on ten minutes. A quickly taken corner from the left by Ben Malpass saw the ball bounce to Sam Steptoe on the penalty spot, who lashed home a right foot half volley to claim his 4th goal of the season. 0-1.
The second half was a different story as a much improved Bloxwich team took to the field. Suddenly it was Allstars who were forcing the issue and if not for a fantastic one handed save by George Bailey, could have been level on 17minutes.
Allstars were now beginning to turn the screw on Panthers. A defensive slip up allowed the Allstars striker a free shot at goal, which resulted in the equaliser. 1-1.
Panthers knew they had to dig in deep which they did with great effort to keep the Allstars at bay whilst going close at the other end of the pitch, with good efforts from Tommy Bannister & Ben Malpass. Unfortunately for Panthers worse was to come. On 22minutes a high ball into the Panthers box saw the defence fail to clear the ball. When the ball was fired at goal by the Bloxwich striker, Bailey made a fine save only for the referee to decide it had crossed the line! 1-2.
Panthers never gave up and continued to battle until the final whistle which unfortunately came too soon for Panthers.
