The Dragons first game of the season saw them come up against another of the new Wyrley teams in Wyrley Youth.
Kicking downhill in the first half Dragons started well and soon put Youth under pressure with Kieran S and Liam going close on a couple of occasions only to be denied by some very good saves from Youths goalkeeper. Dragons made the breakthrough halfway through the first half with Tom H crossing the ball in for Cieran W to score.
The second goal came five minutes later, after Dragons once again putting Youths defence under pressure, with Tom H Cutting in from the wing to score.
At the other end Nathan had little to do in goal because of some good defending by Dom, Brandon, Tom F and Moggy.
Half Time 0 – 2
With expectations of Youth coming back at them, Dragons started the second half strong with Carl and Ewan in midfield battling to win the ball and allowing the pressure to be kept on Youth. It wasn’t long before Liam put his name on the score sheet bursting through the middle and slotting the ball past the keeper. Although you did see Youth attack Dragons more in the second half, that did not stop the lads creating chances, notably with Kieran S hitting the crossbar from around 20 yards out. Ryan scored Dragons fourth and final goal of the game, coming in from the left to score.
Full Time 1 – 4
Well done lads keep it up and good luck to Wyrley Youth for the rest of the season.
