The Jags unbeaten Burton League run continued in the knock out cup against Division 1 side Chellaston Boys with a score-line that flattered the local side.
The Jags took early control with some neat passing that easily tore the Chellaston defence apart and had their keeper not been on top form there would have been an early goal or two. Despite sitting two divisions above it was Wyrley who took the game by the scruff of the neck and took a well deserved lead with a Brandon Garratt neatly placed chip into the top corner. Chellaston’s only method of attack was on the break with long balls over the top for two quick forwards to run onto but with the slick sweeping skills of Josh Oakes the Wyrley keeper had very little to do.
The second half saw much the same dominance, the post and bar were rattled before Garratt got his second with a sweetly place shot from just outside the box. The Jags were now cruising until a hotly contested penalty was dispatched from a rebound after Josh Price saved from the spot.
The Jags pressed again and created more chances, the post saved Chellaston yet again before Louie Grice and Luke Pritchard went close as the hosts got desperate.
