FC Marine 0 v 5 Wyrley Juniors

Pace, skill, good ball control & slick passing beat the more physical FC Marine as Wyrley strolled to a 3rd consecutive away victory.

With the returning Edwards in goal there were times when Wyrley went route one on a small pitch, as they took advantage of his strong kicking. The pace of Matt Moseley and Adam Green tormented the Marine defence all through the game.

On 10 minutes Liam Faherty latched onto a  Crook through ball only to hit the ball straight at the keeper. Wyrley gradually got on top and on 30 minutes quick thinking by Mark Whitehouse saw him take a quick, well weighted free kick straight into the path of Faherty who calmly stroked the ball to the keepers right. Half-time 1-0.

Wyrley extended their lead within a few minutes of the re-start as Green latched onto a through ball to lift the ball left footed over the advancing keeper.

It was 3-0 when the persistent Green cut inside and as he advanced into the box, shot left footed, low, to the keepers right. Adam then completed a left footed hatrick when sub James Arnold played him in and he smahed the ball high into the net.

Tom Garbett was unlucky not to get his name on the score sheet when he was inches away from a Faherty cross. Ever dangerous Matt Moseley had an effort luckily saved, as his long range shot was sat on by the keeper.

Marine were unlucky not to score when a looping free kick hit the bar and bounced too high for Jordan to control it. Jordan then a header saved well by Edwards. Jordan good up front – not!

A Marine attack was broken up by Andy Clayton and when Jame Arnold latched onto the clearance, he played an exquisite ball with the outside of his right foot into the path of Liam Faherty, who fired past the helpless Marine keeper to complete the scoring.

Wyrley looked dangerous going forward all game and had many other opportunities to score. Well done the defence, who were superbly marshalled by Andy Clayton & Mark Whitehouse. Durbin kept the dangerman quiet and Wright was always available for the throw out from the keeper.

Overall a good team performance as Wyrley look forward to Uxbridge next week, again away.
