Panthers made a more positive start to this game, passing the ball more accurately and on 5 minutes a nice pass from midfield found Louie who’s well struck shot skipped just wide. Handsworth did not let up and kept Panthers on their toes with some competitive tackling. Panthers continued to work hard showing a great improvement in fitness levels and skill compared to early season matches and on eight minutes won a free kick just outside the box. Louie struck the ball straight into the back of the net giving their keeper no chance, 1-0 Panthers. Handsworth fought back hard and forced two good saves from Josh. Panthers defence, Chase and Damian really showed their worth, protecting the goal well and feeding the midfield with good passing and clearing danger quickly. Unluckily and slightly against the run of play, Handsworth broke through to equalise just before the half time whistle.
Panthers continued to play well in the second half, and midfield pairing of Jake and Lewis passed the ball about with new confidence, it was compelling to watch. Handsworth started to take speculative long range shots from mid field which Panthers were dealing with well but eventually they were forced deeper into defence and on 25 minutes Handsworth scored a second goal. Panthers battled back hard and in the final minute forced a free kick close to the box. Louie struck the ball hard and low hitting the post but it wasn’t to be and Handsworth ran out winners 2-1.
The only disappointment was the score as Panthers played some great football. It was very exciting and a joy to watch.
Congratulations to Chase – Man of the match.
