The Jags went looking for early revenge against an excellent Lichfield City side on Sunday having been beaten 4-0 on the opening day of the season. Division One of the Lichfield League boasts an incredible high standard and there is never an easy game which makes the 6-1 score line more pleasing especially as Lichfield went into the game having won all three of their league games this season.
The Jags took control early and never looked back once Louie Grice got the opener, Taylor Baylis added another shortly after with a wonder strike from 25 yards into the top corner and when Grice added a third shortly before half time the watching crowds nerves had settled.
The second half saw much the same despite Lichfield having the sloping pitch advantage as wave after wave of Wyrley attacks worked the City keeper hard. It wasn’t long before Baylis added a 4th direct from a corner. With Lichfield out of the game Wyrley where rampant and chance after chance came and went. Shortly before the final whistle Grice completed his second Hat-trick in two days and Josh Hill got the 6th to complete the rout.
