Another two week gap due to postponement last week didn’t have an effect on the Lions. Some very good attacking play in the early stages saw Ella Spears and Ryan Wood come close to breaking the deadlock. A succession of corners came and went without reward and Joshu Guest went on a mazy run which ended with a shot saved by their ‘keeper. Another Ella Spears shot went just wide as the Lions applied some great early pressure. It wasn’t long before the break through came. An excellent ball from Ella Spears found Ryan Wood whose hard low shot went in off the inside of the post. Charlie Smith was excellent in his play tackling back and making some excellent interceptions. Connor Byrne tackled well in the midfield whilst Ritchie Sutton showed some good running to provide support to the attack. Aaron Clee was forced down to his right to save a shot and was then called on a couple of times to block the attackers run on goal. Owen Lloyd was again excellent in defence and helped maintain another clean sheet. George Bicknell showed good touches and provided some excellent neat passes. The second half was much the same, but with another Lions goal. This time a goal of some real quality. Just outside the penalty area Ryan Wood received the ball and struck an unstoppable shot into the net. Undoubtedly the goal of the season so far. Well done to everyone!
