The All New Wyrley Colts ran out against fellow third-placed Bilston League side FC Perton Panthers in the Scott Lloyd Charity Cup with a first round flyer.
The Colts set the tone of the match with some excellent defence -midfield passing, threading balls through on target. With shots peppering the Panthers goal, it was only a matter of time before a right-wing cross flew across the Panthers’ box and blasted home courtesy of a Tommy Farrow header.
The second was inevitable with crosses flying in thick and fast, with yet another right-hand cross headed home by Sammy Holdcroft.
The second half started with the same drive as the first, with Jack Lyons narrowly missing a grass-cutting cross 3 yards off the line, and shots on target from Conner Yates, Matty Paulton and Matty Bestall. Callum Perrins dominated in defence and Connor Brimfield keeping yet another clean sheet, Tommy Farrow finished proceedings with a third classic striker’s poach off an excellent Panthers save.
A fantastic all-round team effort!
Final score: FC Perton Panthers 0 – 3 Wyrley Colts.
