A very impressive start by the Lions had their ‘keeper working from the off. Ritchie Sutton fired at the ‘keeper after good work by Ryan Wood and then immediately another attack brought the best start possible. Another Charlie Smith throw in caused mayhem in the opposition defense only for the ball to drop to Ritchie Sutton who ran through and rifled a low shot past the ‘keeper. Just reward for some excellent work. Then a series of good flowing football followed, with Charlie Smith again running the flank well, Owen Lloyd marshalling the half way line breaking up play and some excellent back up support from Joshua Guest. Then came a contender for goal of the season, Joshua Guest fresh from his defensive duties picking the ball up just in side his own half, running forward and hitting a dipping shot which dropped under the cross bar running down the back of the net. A different mood came over the team and Ritchie Sutton had another shot saved by the ‘keeper, however Aaron Clee was quickly called into action as the opposition broke away. He raced to the edge of his penalty area forcing the attacker to fire horribly wide. A few more break a ways saw some excellent defending again by Owen Lloyd, with Joshua Guest also making some important challenges. The second half started well and Ritchie Sutton again, after good work by Ryan Wood, had an opportunity to score with a one on one but somehow got his feet mixed and the ball dribbled into the ‘keepers hands. Ryan Wood then found himself with a good shooting opportunity only for his shot to go wide. A Charlie Smith Corner caused a melee in the opposition box with the busy Ryan Wood shooting just wide again. The Lions pressure increased. Joshua Guest tried his hand at another pile driver only for this one to spin wide of the ‘keepers right hand post. More corners and more pressure was exerted by the Lions with some excellent play by Charlie Smith forcing one more corner, by now the count going into double figures, delivered well with Ryan Wood unlucky to lose possession just as he was about to shoot. Aaron Clee was called into action to come off his line to make a block and then to take the rebounded shot well diving on the ball near the line. Well done lads. The best hat award went to Jeff Sutton, but the Man of the Match award deservedly went to Ryan Wood. Well Done Ryan.
