LICHFIELD JUNIOR YOUTH SHIELD GROUP B
MATCH REPORT 26/02/12
FOUR OAKS PUMAS 1 v 2 WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED
United got their first points in this years shield league division B and they were really well deserved. From the first whistle Wyrley put pressure on the opposition, and didn’t allow them to settle. With a slight slope in their favour United played some neat passing football and stretched their opponents at the back on several occasions. Tom Wheeldon and Louie Parish did everything right but score, carving out two or three opportunities apiece. The quality of the United’s passing creating these chances, a slide rule pass from Wheeldon found Parish who went clear of the defence to open United’s account, just before half time. The second half United expected some pressure from their opponents but another fine pass by Wheeldon and finish by Parish settled United not long after the start of the half. United’s defence was solid and repelled any threat Four Oaks could muster, Crook, Rowlands, Higgins, Hill and Addison keeping it tight for Wyrley. The midfield unit were playing well too, Tom Peacock perhaps just about the pick of the bunch, but Lewis Hill’s superb consistency in midfield and defence won him the man of the match award. United gave a goal away near the end to give the home team some hope but United managed to see out the last few minutes to seal the win.
