WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED 4 v 2 LICHFIELD CITY SPIRES.
On a blustery morning both teams tried their hardest to get the ball down and play but this was never easy. Early on Tom Wheeldon and Louie Parish were a threat to the Lichfield defence but couldn’t just get their shots away. Wheeldon however had a hand in the first goal when his shot found Elliot Crook on the far post to put Wyrley 1 up. Lichfield came straight back and scrambled the ball home when Wyrley failed to clear. Some good work down the Wyrley left saw Sam Foreman find Tom Rowlands, his well aimed cross took a deflection and found the Lichfield net to put Wyrley 2-1 up at half time. The second half panned out similarly to the first, Wyrley made a few changes and Lewis Hall and Chase Allen began to get into the game, Allen was unlucky to see his shot tipped over the bar by the Lichfield keeper. Lewis Hall was not to be denied and finished well from close range and then Wheeldon opened his account with an effort which could only be parried into the net by the keeper. An excellent long range effort gave some reward for Lichfields hard work to make the final score 4-2. Wyrley man the match was Jack Addison who played well on his debut for the team.
Great start boys to eleven a side football, a great team effort, well done also to Callum, Alex,Kieron,Damo,David,Jake,Tom P and Owen who all played a part into todays win.
