MATCH REPORT 21/10/2012
SPORTSCO SAINTS 2 v 3 WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED
Wyrley were caught on the break after the first few minutes when Sportsco found space inside the Wyrley box and finished coolly past the advancing United keeper, Wyrley did raise their game from this point onwards and began to get a little more possession, Tom Wheeldon went close after a fine run down the Sportsco right, shortly after Wheeldon made a great connection from an excellent Liam Morley corner and Elliot Crook prodded home to bring Wyrley level, Some good work from Louie Parish set up Morley on the edge of the box and his accurate strike found the bottom corner of the Sportsco net to put United in front. Just before half time Sportsco broke well again and took their chance well with a shot that beat Jack Addison just inside the near post. The second half, Wyrley defended with greater purpose, The centre back pairing of Tom Rowlands and Sam Cotterell keeping things tight at the back, United full backs were disciplined too and for a solid game at full back Callum Holliday was given Wyrley man of the match. United managed several attacks and Crook was giving Sportco problems down the Wyrley right, with Zak Hallett also making life difficult for the Sportsco defence but it was Tom Wheeldon who broke into the box to hit his shot well into the corner of the Sportsco net. United competed well for the rest of the game and booked their place into the next round of the cup.
