LICHFIELD JUNIOR YOUTH LEAGUE DIVISION 2 MATCH REPORT 5/05/13
WYRLEY JUNIORS UNITED 2 v 4 HOLLY LANE UNITED
Both teams went for the win in this closely fought match, which made for a game which rapidly flowed from end to end, After a tight first 10 minutes or so Holly Lane crafted a couple of chances and looked threatening on the break. Lane opened the scoring when their forward lobbed the Wyrley keeper from just inside the box, United responded well and both Sam Foreman and Tom Wheeldon went close for Wyrley, Foreman also made a good block on the line to prevent lane going further ahead, Wheeldon eventually broke the shackles of the lane defence and coolly hit a shot above the Lane keeper from close range. Half time and the game was pretty even but the next 15 minutes of the second half, Lane hit a purple patch and took the game away from Wyrley, 2 well worked goals and a penalty saw Lane pull away but there was still time for Wyrley to get back into the match, Lewis Hill hit his shot into the keepers arms and hit another effort soon after over the bar, Wheeldon tapped in his second after an almighty scramble however Wyrley came up just short to bring a good run of 5 games unbeaten to an end. Elliot Crook was Wyrley man of the match.
Made chances and so did Holly Lane, the latter more clinical in front of goal, that’s football, lets dust ourselves down, regroup and put in a great performance in next weeks end of season game.
