Wyrley Panthers v Ashmore Park Rangers Friendly Match
In what was probably about the eighth match between these two teams, the Panthers certainly edged this game, which ended in a draw.
The two teams have been very evenly matched throughout the season and this fixture always provides good football from both teams. However, in this game the Panthers dominated possession of the ball and Ashmore played a counter-attacking style of football at pace.
It was this style of football that brought Ashmore the first goal of the match. One of the Ashmore attackers broke quickly following a breakdown in a Panthers attack and neatly dispatched his finish into the bottom corner of the net.
The Panthers’ heads did not drop and they showed what they are made of in the second half by moving the ball quickly and creating a hatful of chances. They finally breached the Ashmore defence from a corner; a ball in was neatly put away at the far post by the head of Louis Beesley.
The Panthers continued to press for the winning goal but Ashmore always looked dangerous on the break. A draw the end result in a very pulsating game.
Wyrley Panthers v Tipton Youth Friendly Match
Another bruising encounter in which the Panthers players were on the end of some rather robust tackles, especially Lucas ‘Tibbsy’ Tibbs who continued to pick himself up and dust himself down throughout the game.
The Panthers looked dangerous going forward but lacked a little shape to their play and too many times left George Whitehouse at the back on his own and a couple of times it was only his last-ditch tackling that prevented goals from being conceded. When George Whitehouse was beaten at the back ‘The Cat’, Lewis Rochelle was on hand to save the day.
Another couple of draws this weekend against two very good teams. The boys can be proud of keeping their unbeaten run going.
Man of the Matches this week went to George Whitehouse and Lucas ‘Tibbsy’ Tibbs. Well-done boys!
Squad today: Lewis Rochelle, George Whitehouse, Sam Scott, Josh Mason, Ben Herrington, Josh Reynolds, Louis Beesley and Lucas Tibbs.
