WYRLEY TIGERS 1 v 1 SHIRE OAK PANTHERS
Tigers started brightly and put Shire Oak under pressure early on in this game, Tigers worked hard collectively during the first half and were rewarded when some good work by Josh Smith, created an opening for man of the match William Meredith, he managed to side step the on coming Shire Oak keeper and then place the ball into the empty net, The shire oak keeper minutes later then blocked well to deny Smith in front of goal. The tables turned slightly second half as Shire Oak had the bulk of possession but Tigers competed well and still were a threat on the break, Shire Oak took their chance well near the end of this game to take a share of the points.
Well done lads, what a solid team performance! A special mention however for Tom R and Tom P, who defended well during the second half and H in the Tigers goal.
SPORTING KHALSA 2 v 7 WYRLEY TIGERS
Tigers made a couple of changes for this encounter, Tom Wheeldon slotting in on the left hand side of midfield and Duncan Reilly leading the Wyrley attack, Tigers pushed hard for the first few minutes without any luck, Man of the match Josh Smith was pushed forward with Sam Foreman dropping back into centre mid, The ball was worked down the left hand side of the pitch, Wheeldon slid a ball to Smith who beat the Khalsa keeper at the near post, a minute later Smith broke through to net his second and within another minute a goalbound Wheeldon shot was handled by a Khalsa defender, Smith completed his hat-trick from the resultant spot kick, Wheeldon was however rewarded just before half time, finishing well from close range to put Wyrley 4 up. The second half Wyrley rotated the players, Alex Price, Daniel Cooper and Elliot Crook all being involved at some point, Khalsa got a goal back at the start of the second half from a well taken free kick, this spurred on Wyrley once again and Crook made room on the edge of the box to hit a well directed shot into the Khalsa net, Wheeldon hit his second from a narrow angle, then Khalsa replied again, The ubiquitous Wheeldon unfortunately had a second effort handled clear of the Khalsa goal, Crook stepped up to convert, to make it seven goals for the Tigers.
Great performance Tigers I couldn’t take my eyes of this game!
