Wolves started their first competitive campaign with two impressive wins on a windy morning at Brownhills. Wolves looked hungry for points in their first game and soon took the lead with an impressive goal from last seasons top scorer Lily, following some neat football down the right by Callum and Ben. Just five minutes after taking the lead Wolves were awarded a free kick following a great defensive interception by Regan which led to Lily being bought down 18 yards out. Up stepped Thomas to hit a pin point free kick into the back of the net. In fairness Wolves could have been four up at half time with Ed hitting the post and Ben also going close whilst Jordan was almost redundant between the sticks touching the ball just once in the first half.
The second half saw a much improved Perton come onto the field and for a short period it look like Wolves may regret not taking their chances as Perton pulled a goal back. However, the introduction of Cameron making tackles that Bobby Moore would have been proud of and Josh playing out of position in defence made Wolves look solid once more. Wolves secured all three points with five minutes remaining after a jinking run by Jake which saw the ball fall to Lily and the finish was never in doubt.

Wolves’ second game was a much tougher test against a very physical Bustleholme team. Wolves stuck to their task of passing and soon began to get a grip of the game with Callum, Ben & Ed starting to take control of the midfield whilst both Regan & Tom looked assured at the back. After 10 minutes Wolves got the break of luck which had been missing during the round robins after Lily chased down a back pass which was deflected into the Bustleholme net to give Wolves the lead.
Bustleholme to their credit never gave up and forced some splendid saves from Jordan. Wolves all but secured the points with six minutes to go following a great clearance by Josh which set Lily free to smash the ball at the Bustleholme keeper who in turn spilled the ball to the on running Jake who followed up to smash the ball home and give Wolves a 2-0 lead.
Bustleholme did grab a late consolation but the win was already well deserved by a very good Wolves performance.
